Campus
In 1874, Southern Illinois University (SIU) began with one three-story building constructed between 1870 and 1874. The university expanded through the late 1800s and early 1900s, with major additions in the 1960s-70s and 2000s-10s.

The campus also features natural beauty with Thompson Woods and Campus Lake, alongside various memorials and artistic structures. About Bachelor of Science in Communication
At SIUE, the Mass communications program aims at preparing students to make a successful career in one of the fastest-growing and dynamic fields: Mass media. The Department of Mass Communications at SIUE is accredited by the highly-selective Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). This means, that due to small class sizes our students get one-on-one attention from their instructors and their curriculum keeps up with changes in the media industry. SIUE students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and faculty members who dedicate themselves to serving the professional and intellectual needs of the students. The Department of Mass Communications offers four sequences: Print/Electronic journalism, TV-radio production, Advertising, and Corporate communications.
Program Structure
- The Bachelor of Science in Communication course is a 4 year Full Time Bachelor Program.
- Students will complete the first 2 Years in BMM program at Mumbai University with Vidyalankar Institute - VSIT.
- After successful completion of 2 Years at VSIT BMM program students can opt to transfer to the University of SIUE Edwardsville. Such students are accepted by Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, directly into the 3rd year of the BS Mass Communication program.
- These students will have an option to major in Corporate and Institutional Media Media Advertising Print/ Electronic Journalism Television/ Radio
- After completing All 4 Years of program, students will be awarded with Master of Applied Business Analytics degree from the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Graduates of the Department of Mass Communications choose various career paths. Their graduates have become reporters, editors and photojournalists for newspapers, magazines, and online publications. Others work in radio and television, for advertising agencies, and in marketing and communications positions at major corporations and nonprofits; many become the social media experts in their positions. Some graduates take an entrepreneurial approach and create careers as independent videographers, event planners, graphic designers, web developers, and freelance communications specialists.
